When entering, you walk through a long hall lined in dark oak panelling, past an atrium filled with plants and light, and into the main room of the restaurant, which is spacious and modern. Think wooden tables lit with desk lamps and surrounded by low sofas and Eames-style chairs. This vegetarian restaurant is a must go when visiting the area of Barceloneta.
The Green Spot
Carrer de la Reina Cristina, 12
At the end of March we flew off to sunny Barcelona. A city of my heart. The atmosphere, the weather, the food, the combination of city and beach, the many cool places to eat, drink and shop; I truly love it. Hotel Brummell invited us as their guests for a weekend and this made me happy as a kid.
You take a metro to Poble Sec where you walk up the road towards the hotel which is located in front of Monjuic, the green gem of the city which offers a botanical garden, museums and last but not least, a stunning view over the entire city. The hotel is an urban oasis created by friends. The staff is extremely friendly. It’s like one big family who hosts you and will take care of you.
The reception has a collection of design items you can buy in their store next door and items collected in Sri Lanka by the owner, Christian Schallert . The lobby shows the newest exhibition from one of the upcoming artists in the area, Egle Zvirblyte. The restaurant named Brummell Kitchen is managed by the ‘’culinary geniuses’’ of Palo Cortao, a Southern Spanish restaurant down the street. The delicious Catalan dishes can be enjoyed inside the dining area or in the beautiful outdoor patio where travellers and locals come together. I immediately felt in love with the combination of materials and colors. The enormous wooden doors are an eye-catcher. The marble tables combined with the plates and the natural light from above are a piece of art.
Brummell encourages guests to explore Barcelona, for example by providing a welcome guide with many cool places to go, but also providing you with reasons to spend some quality time in the hotel. From the patio you can take the stairs to the sauna and the swimming pool. After having a rich breakfast, and believe me you will eat three times as much as you are used to, you can take a dive, digest and enjoy the calm. To get completely zen, you can join a yoga session hosted by Veronica Blume in the yoga studio called The Garage. Which for the records, it’s free for guests!
